Zadok Yohanna is a Nigerian right winger for Brighton and Hove Albion. He was born in Bauchi State 29 June, 2007. He joined Brighton from AIK Stockholm on a two-year contract in June 2026 after passing through Ikon Allah Football Academy in Kaduna.
He is 19 years old. He is left footed and wears number 36. He has been called up to the Super Eagles squad but has not played for Nigeria yet.
There are a number of pages which copy each other and details of him have drifted away from since June. This one is based on the club statement, the competition records and the main interviews. Where a figure is only a report, I say so.
What is Zadok Yohanna’s real name?
His name is Zadok Abu Yohanna. Brighton and AIK records use that version, shirts and public profiles use Zadok Yohanna.
Some others turn it to Yohanna Zadok Abu. It’s in the transfer records. Zadok is his first name, not a nickname.
How old is Zadok Yohanna?
He was born on 29 June 2007, so he is 19 as of November 2026. He turns 20 on 29 June 2027.
One of the purest things about him is his age. In June 2026, Brighton’s statement described him as the “18-year-old Nigerian, who will be turning 19 later this month”. All serious databases have the same date.
Where is Zadok Yohanna from and how did he start in football?
He is a Nigerian citizen from Bauchi State. According to Profiles, he is of the Sayawa (Zaar) ethnic group.
He started his football career in Kaduna. He left Bauchi as a young teenager, with his family’s consent, and joined an academy there. That decision is the hinge of his career.
Which academy did he attend in Kaduna?
Ikon Allah Football Academy, a grassroots outfit in Kaduna. Doesn’t play in the league. It trains boys and finds them trials.
There were two rejections that came first. In 2023, Premium Times reported failed trials with Nigeria’s Under 17 side while 2025 is for the Under 20 side. He pushed on and the Sweden route opened up.
He was on the scouts’ list by 2025. According to The Athletic, founder Sadi Mohammed said 36 scouts from large clubs came to see one game.
Zadok Yohanna’s Height and Position
The current figure is 1.84 metres, which is approximately 6 feet. Transfermarkt and Sofascore both carry it. According to older Nigerian blogs it is 1.81 metres or 5 feet 11 inches. It’s not much, but the current records say 1.84.
On the pitch he is a right winger who plays off his left foot, which makes him an inverted winger. He starts wide on the right, then cuts inside to shoot or to pass. Some fantasy sites refer to him as a midfielder, but he is a game classification.
What did Zadok Yohanna do at AIK Stockholm?
He joined AIK in July 2025. Transfermarkt dates the move to 8 July. Brighton’s statement said AIK signed him for about 650,000 pounds, with a sell on clause for the academy.
The rise was quick. He scored four goals in three games for the under 19 side and forced his way up. He made six Allsvenskan appearances in 2025 under Mikkjal Thomassen.
The 2026 season changed everything. Under Jose Rivero he became a regular, with two goals and two assists in seven league games. A 4-0 Svenska Cupen win over BK Hacken in March gave him two more goals.
Across all competitions, Brighton’s official figure is 18 appearances, five goals and four assists. He wore number 36 in Sweden and kept it in England.
Several pages say he signed his first professional deal on his 18th birthday. The records date his AIK registration to early July 2025 instead.
How much did Brighton pay for Zadok Yohanna?
Brighton announced the deal on 6 June 2026 and called the terms undisclosed. That remains the only official position, and reported figures differ by currency and add ons.
1. BBC and most British outlets put the deal at 21.5 million pounds.
2. Sports Mole reported an initial 28 million euros, about 24.2 million pounds, plus 2 million euros in add ons.
3. Nigerian outlets have quoted 28 million and 30 million euros.
The safe way to write it is this. Brighton paid a reported fee of about 21.5 million pounds. The sale made him the most expensive departure in Swedish football history, ahead of Lucas Bergvall’s move to Tottenham.
Why did he choose Brighton over other clubs?
He explained it himself. He watches the Premier League, he knows which clubs trust young players, and Brighton is one of them. He said their style would suit him, and that Fabian Hurzeler told him to keep fighting when they spoke before the deal.
Hurzeler was measured. He called Yohanna a player who can impact games in the final third. He also said the teenager will need time to adapt, and praised his pace in one on one situations.
Chelsea, Newcastle and Manchester City were all linked. Reports say Newcastle made an approach, and the academy founder said two English clubs fought to the final day.
How is Zadok Yohanna doing at Brighton so far?
The start has been stop and start, and the plain version is more useful than the hype.
1. He made his Premier League debut on 23 August 2026, coming off the bench in a 4-0 win over Aston Villa. He played 12 minutes.
2. He featured in the Conference League qualifier against Tromso on 27 August, playing 27 minutes.
3. That is three appearances and roughly 39 minutes before a fitness issue interrupted him.
Hurzeler called it a small issue and spoke about the time young players need to adapt. Reports said he trained with the under 21 squad in late October, then returned to first team training at the end of the month.
He has not been frozen out. He has been managed carefully after a minor injury, and he is pushing for a return.

Who is in Zadok Yohanna’s family?
This is where most biographies start guessing. His parents’ names are not public, and no interview has put them on record.
His family backed the move to Kaduna. Premium Times reported that he travelled with their consent to chase football, and he has spoken about wanting to make them proud.
His academy mentors shaped him. The Athletic named Sadi Mohammed and Ayi Mohammed of Ikon Allah as the men who spotted him and trained him. If you write a family section, name the mentors, not invented parents.
What is Zadok Yohanna’s net worth?
There is no verified net worth. He is 19, his Brighton salary has not been published, and no club or agent has given a figure.
Some Nigerian pages claim 29 million dollars. That looks like confusion between his transfer fee and his personal wealth. A fee goes to the selling club. Add ons and sell on clauses belong to clubs and academies.
Other pages estimate a low six figure sum in dollars. That is more believable for a teenager in his first months in England, but it is still a guess.
What is certain is his contract, a five year deal to June 2031 with a Premier League club. His market value is the only public money number around him.
